In 1964 a $2,000,000 bond referendum was
passed, and along with a $6,000,000 Housing and Urban Development grant
the District was able to purchase and develop ten new parks, including
Emerson Park. This 5.0-acre park was redeveloped in 1993-94 at a cost
of $237,000. Redevelopment included all new playground, drainage
improvements, reconstructed ball diamond, resurfaced basketball court,
color coat of basketball and tennis courts, new picnic tables, benches,
trash receptacles, walk along south end. Landscape improvements
included trees, shrubs and sodding.
