Exploritorium now open!
The Skokie Park District’s popular Exploritorium officially re-opened on Friday, June 18 at 9 a.m. A special free Sunday Grand Re-Opening, dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony will also be held from 1-4 p.m., June 20.
After extensive renovation, the award-winning Exploritorium will re-open with brand new attractions and the return of some old favorites. New attractions include a redesigned water play area, interactive music walls, a climbing wall, and a designated toddler zone.
Back are a re-furbished dress up stage and snack area, and the facility’s signature two-and-a-half story tubes and tunnels.
“One of our goals was to keep children as active as possible by incorporating more movement in their play,” said Mary Grear, Exploritorium supervisor. “We believe we have accomplished that goal by creating more large motor activities for children to release their energy.”
Resident fees are now $3 each for adults and children, and $5 each for non-resident adults and children. Children under 1 are free. The Exploritorium was recently voted “Best Indoor Play and Party Space in Chicagoland” by Nickelodeon parents. Chicago Magazine has called the venue "Chicagoland's best rainy day activity site."
