Parade, 3-D Fireworks Fest headline July 4 event
Skokie has become known on the North Shore, not only for its stellar Fourth of July Parade, but for its fantastic annual 3-D Fireworks Festival.
The parade kicks off the festivities at noon and features marching bands, tumblers, drill teams, clowns, vintage automobiles, and more. The parade will run on Oakton Street, east from Downtown to Oakton Park.
At 5:30 p.m. the fun moves to Niles West High School (Oakton Street just west of the Edens Expressway) with “Picnic in the Park,” featuring food, drinks and music. The concert begins at 6 p.m. featuring Little Nashville, followed by the Spoken Four.
At dusk, the spectacular 3-D Fireworks Fest begins, with the first 10,000 patrons receiving a free pair of 3-D glasses. (The fireworks rain date is Saturday, July 5.)
This year’s celebration is sponsored by the Village of Skokie, Niles Township, School District #219 and the Skokie Park District. For more information call the Park District at (847) 674-1500.
